Job description
At Thorizon, a passionate team of 40 people based in Amsterdam and Lyon is committed to advancing a new nuclear power solution using Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) technology. As part of this effort, this internship takes place within a collaboration project at DIFFER in Eindhoven, where you will work on-site.

About Thorizon
Thorizon is working with DIFFER on the DICE project, where materials are exposed simultaneously to 𝗶𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ☢️ and 𝗺𝗼𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘁 🧊, reproducing material–salt chemical interactions at the high temperature and irradiation conditions inside a molten salt reactor. These results provide unique insights into how our candidate materials behave and complement our extensive molten salt corrosion program to demonstrate the lifetime and durability of materials and components for Thorizon One.
Your role
You will be responsible for performing material analyses before and after irradiation and/or corrosion tests to understand how corrosion and irradiation interact.You will perform the following analyses: surface morphology using SEM, surface composition using EDS, measurements of corrosion depth using SEM and EDS, and phase transformation analysis using XRD. If needed, we will train the selected candidate to use this equipment and analyze the data.
Other requirements
Very good spoken and written English, attention to cleanliness and detail, curiosity, and independence.
This internship is open to university master’s students.
The expected salary conditions are of 660 €/month.
Location: DIFFER (Eindhoven, NL) — project-based collaboration with Thorizon (Amsterdam)
Duration: The expected duration of the internship is 6 months starting as soon as possible (start date can be changed depending on the needs of the candidate).
